CivicShield is a digital initiative that centers around preserving diverse voices, protecting civic actors, and countering harmful misinformation. It offers a dedicated space where underrepresented communities can share their experiences and have their stories amplified, helping ensure marginalized perspectives are visible in public discourse. At the same time, CivicShield equips journalists, activists, and community members with the tools and resources necessary to stay safe online — guarding against harassment, cyber‑attacks, or intimidation while they advocate for change. Finally, recognizing how gendered disinformation and online harassment are increasingly used to silence vulnerable groups, CivicShield actively monitors and counters these threats, working to create a safer, more inclusive digital ecosystem in which civic engagement isn’t just possible—but meaningful.

The CEO’s perspective

At CivicShield, we are committed to ensuring that every voice is heard, every civic actor is protected, and every community can safely engage in the digital space. Our interventions focus on three core areas: creating platforms for Digital Storytelling for Inclusion so marginalized communities can share their experiences and perspectives; providing Digital Safety for Civic Actors, equipping journalists, activists, and community leaders with the tools and resources to navigate online spaces securely; and actively Countering Gendered Disinformation and Online Harassment, monitoring and responding to threats and misinformation that disproportionately target women and vulnerable groups.
